Working with Fonts in Cricut Design Space

Hello!  Now that most of us have had our Cricut Explore for a little while, we have started venturing out beyond the basics.  Or maybe you are new to Cricut and are just learning.  First, congrats on your new machine if you are a newbie!  It is an amazing tool in our crafting world.  The Explore has MANY new things it can do and they are constantly adding more features.  One of the many awesome things the Cricut Explore can do is it has the ability to use fonts from your computer (system fonts).  If you have never downloaded a font before, this may be a mystery to you.  I will warn you though, once you start . . . it’s hard to stop.  You will find before too long you have hundreds of fonts on your computer to pick from.   Now, once it is downloaded, how do you use it in Design Space?

I have created a little video tutorial below that will decode the mystery of downloading a font onto your computer and using it in Design Space.  BUT, the possibilities don’t stop there.  Once you have that font installed it is available to use in ANY program on your computer that uses fonts.  Watch the video then like, share and comment and let me know what you think.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and I’d be happy to help.

Have a wonderful day and HAPPY CRAFTING!!

Thanks so much for introducing me to a way to find new fonts. I’m also loving the idea but cannot find an area to type out a sentence to review my fonts….where am I messing up? I finally found the website after much searching! Thanks in advance

  2. There is a space at the top of the page that has the word “wordmark” in it. Click there to type the word you want to find a font for. You can also change the properties of the fonts it is showing by clicking “bigger” or “smaller” or any of the other options that are in that black box along the top of the page. Hope this helped. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions.

I downloaded and installed the Legothick font. It worked for awhile, but now all that shows up is a box with a X in it for each letter. Do know how to fix this?

  4. That usually means that you are using characters that aren’t part of the font like capitals or numbers usually. Try typing in lower case and see if it corrects the problem.

Thanks. It’s only capital letters, but it works in other programs

Hey there! So I have found some awesome fonts and uploaded them to my computer, then to Cricut. But now when I try to use the font it looks completely different from what I downloaded. Any suggestions?

  7. Some fonts have flourishes and such that are only viewable on a font map. There are videos out there on how to do that. I’ll look into it and maybe do a video myself on it.
